Laboratory of Stress and Resilience
Our
ultimate goals are to better understand how stress, a biologic fact of life, impacts
the brain, and beyond that, why certain individuals and/or populations are more vulnerable
to the damaging effects of stress. To accomplish these goals, we use animal models
to characterize and define the neural circuits and pathways regulating the stress response
and those circuits and pathways impacted by stress. We hope that by better understanding
the circuitry and the transmitter systems modulating important ‘stress’ circuits
we can contribute to the development of behavioral and pharmacological treatments for
humans.
