Child Mental Health Summit
Thursday, May 8, 2008
4:00 – 8:00 PM in the Evarts Lounge, Helen Wood Hall (School of Nursing) at the
University of Rochester Medical Center – 255 Crittenden Boulevard
Is your practice affected by the shortage of child psychiatrists?
Do you believe that communication between local medical and psychiatric practitioners can be better?
If you answered “yes” to either of these questions, please join us on National Children’s Mental Health Awareness Day, May 8th, 2008, for a summit with national, state, and local leaders to discuss ways to better serve all of our children and youth to thrive in the community and achieve their dreams.
It is more important than ever for family, pediatric and child psychiatric practitioners in Monroe County to come together to find solutions that will work for everyone. National, state and local leaders will frame the problem and possible solutions, followed by dinner, networking and a local response panel. The podium will then be open to participants to comment on strategies or present new ones that will better serve our children and youth.
This groundbreaking summit will be held from 4:00 – 8:00 PM in the Evarts Lounge, Helen Wood Hall (School of Nursing) at the University of Rochester Medical Center – 255 Crittenden Boulevard. Dinner is included.
Your voice is crucial and seating for this important summit is limited, so please RSVP now to Annette Powell at 753-2699 or apowell@monroecounty.gov to reserve your seat.

May 9-10 at the Clarion Riverside Hotel in Downtown Rochester. As you will see from our agenda, we have sought a mix of perspectives on trauma during this event. We are especially excited by our Keynote Speakers, Dr. Bruce Perry and Marvin Alexander, so we encourage you to join us both days. Feel free to also share this flyer with your colleagues/networks.
And I want to encourage those for whom the fee may present a hardship to seek scholarship support. We definitely want a variety of faces and voices from the community to join us at this important event in honor of Children's Mental Health Awareness month in Monroe County.
If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact the Event Chair, Melanie Funchess, at 325-3145 x 135 or mfunchess@mharochester.org, or the event staff support, Annette Powell at 753-2699 or apowell@monroecounty.gov.
