- Research Focus
- Standardization of immunological techniques for clinical investigation of human immune status.
- Research Overview
- The mission of the Human Immunology Center is to provide expertise for applying new cutting edge immunological techniques from basic animal research through development and standardization to human research. Research in the HIC core laboratory supports exploratory clinical research programs by establishing measures for immune status and response across multiple disciplines and programs.
- Standard procedures using 18-color multichromatic flow cytometry for cell analysis and 15-color cell sorting, Elispot, fluorispot and lysispot are available for application to clinical trials including lymphoma, autoimmunity, and infectious disease. New techniques provide insight into T, B, dendritic and antigen presenting cell regulation, activation and interactions. Standardized reagent panels for human cell differentiation and activation markers provide the consistency needed to allow interpretation of complex data from analysis of human immune compartments.
