Training Sites

Strong Memorial Hospital

Residents receive most of their inpatient medicine experience and all of their emergency department training at Strong Memorial Hospital.

Each resident also gets two months of general medicine inpatient experience at Highland Hospital.

Residents get ambulatory continuity experience at the faculty-resident practice at Strong's Ambulatory Care Center. They also get it at Highland or at selected community-based practices.

Highland Hospital

Geriatrics rotations are based at Highland and at Monroe Community Hospital, both within walking distance of Strong.

Resource Sites

The Micheal Rodgers Library on the 7th floor of Strong is maintained by the Department of Medicine exclusively for internal medicine residents. There is a full selection of texts related to internal medicine, along with access to multiple computers.

The Edward G. Miner Library at Strong provides electronic access to major medical journals, along with access to other medical literature.

A selection of major textbooks is also available at all of the program training sites, including Strong, Highland, and at selected community-based practices.

Travel Resources

Residents in internal medicine can get funding for travel to professional meetings. Residents who are presenting papers can get funds for travel, lodging, registration fees, and a per diem. Expenses are limited to the time it takes to travel and present the paper.
