Application Process

aamcApplications to the University of Rochester/Highland Hospital Family Medicine Residency Program by allopathic and osteopathic medical candidates will be accepted ONLY through the Association of American Medical College's (AAMC) Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS).

  • We sponsor only J-1 visas.
  • You must have passed Parts I and II of the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE).
  • You must be certified or eligible to be certified by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG).
  • After completing at least one (1) year of hands-on employment as a physician in a US or Canadian health care facility, candidates must submit their applications through ERAS. Note: We do not accept externships or observerships, nor do we accept clerkships or internships for which the candidate has paid for the training.
  • As a rule, we accept only those applicants who have graduated from medical school in 2003 or later.
