Facilities
The Department of Imaging Sciences is composed of two hospitals and two outpatient imaging centers providing digital and computed radiography, digital fluoroscopy, ultrasound, nuclear medicine, CT, MR, and angiography services. We currently operate 8 CT scanners (16, 40, and 64 slice), 7 MRI machines (1.5 and 3 Tesla magnets), and 1 PET-CT scanner.
Volume
The Department of Imaging Sciences performs over 400,000 examinations annually at Strong Memorial Hospital and its outpatient facilities. An additional 35,000 examinations are performed each year at nearby Highland Hospital. Imaging volume is increasing at a rate of approximately 10% annually.
Reading Rooms
The Department of Imaging Sciences is a filmless environment. Reading rooms are equipped with multi flat-panel color PACS workstations which allow for real-time volume and multiplanar reconstructions. Voice-recognition software is utilized for report dictation.
Amenities
Other amenities include a robust departmental library, resident lounge, and a state-of-the-art conference room designed for residency education with tiered seating, LCD projectors, PACS workstation, and dual plasma screen monitors.
