Strong on Stroke
The Strong Stroke Center is the fourth largest stroke center in New York State, and
provides expert acute and follow-up rehabilitative care for more than 550 patients each year. It is nationally certified as a Primary Stroke Center, and is designated as an official Stroke Center by New York State’s Department of Health.
Our stroke care is informed by research that seeks to prevent strokes and/or reverse its damaging effects.
We have a rigorous patient safety program that includes:
- Hospital-wide efforts to prevent medication errors
- Nursing-led initiatives to reduce injuries from falls
- Prevention of dangerous blood clots in the legs
Our work was most recently honored with an Initial Performance Achievement Award by the American Heart Association and the American Stroke Association for our participation in the Get With The Guidelines – Stroke program.
