Rehabilitation Information
The Orthopaedic Oncology program provides an interdisciplinary approach to meeting the individual needs of bone cancer patients and caregivers. After diagnosis, during treatment and in recovery, patients receive care from therapists and professionals who specialize in exercise, stress management, nutrition, massage therapy, and activities of daily living.
Therapists in our Physican Medicine and Rehabilitation group are specialty trained and experienced in working with bone cancer patients, whether they are in recovery or fighting advancing disease or severe side effects of aggressive treatment. Our experts can help people:
-
Improve mobility, balance and endurance
Reduce pain, weakness or numbness from nerve damage
Reduce swelling of limbs after cancer surgery or radiation therapy
Resume vocational, recreational and social pursuits
Special programs are available to help patients with implants and those with an upper or lower limb amputation.
