The Neuroscience Cluster has three primary functions:
- Recruitment and admissions of high quality graduate students;
- Supervision of first year students;
- Day-to-day operations of the First Year Program.
The Cluster Director oversees the administration of the Cluster and is assisted by the Graduate Program Coordinator. Three committees comprised of faculty and student representatives participate in the administration of the program.
- The Admissions Committee recruits students to the Neuroscience Cluster.
- The Curriculum Committee evaluates and recommends changes to the curriculum.
- The Advisory Committee assesses student progress, serves as a mediator for students and faculty, and assists the Director with interpreting and applying program policies uniformly and fairly.
The Neuroscience Cluster Director meets regularly with the IGPN Director and the chairs of the Advisory and Curriculum Committees to discuss programmatic issues and to update program policies. At the institutional level, a committee comprised of senior leaders in neuroscience (i.e., department chairs and center directors) oversees the Neuroscience Cluster and the IGPN and directs major policy changes.
