Special Instructions for Adults

  • Call your doctor if you become ill before the procedure day.
  • Before coming to the hospital, remove all makeup, jewelry (including wedding band and hair accessories), and nail polish.
  • Do not bring any valuables (money, wallet, purse or jewelry).
  • If you are staying overnight in the hospital, leave any luggage or crutches in your car until after your procedure. If you are going home on the same day as your surgery, bring in any crutches or braces your surgeon has instructed you to bring.
  • Health standards require that a responsible adult must accompany any patient who has received anesthetics or sedatives and is going home the same day. You must arrange a ride home before coming to surgery.

Special Instructions for Patients Having a Lithotripsy (ESWL) Procedure

  • Before coming to the hospital, remove all makeup, jewelry (including wedding bands and hair accessories) and nail polish. DO NOT BRING VALUABLES (money, wallet, purse, or jewelry).
  • Call your doctor if you become ill prior to the day of your procedure.
  • Please arrive on time.
  • We ask that only one family member accompany you on the day of your procedure. No children under the age of 12 are allowed as visitors.
