Information About Medications for Adults
- On the morning of surgery, unless otherwise instructed, take your regular medications using no more than one ounce of water at the usual time, or before leaving for the hospital, whichever comes first. If you are on medications for diabetes, you should discuss the dose with your surgeon or nurse practitioner.
- Aspirin/anti-inflammatory products: Please do not take any aspirin products or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agents, such as Ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin) or Naproxen (Aleve) for 7 days before the procedure unless otherwise directed by your surgeon. TYLENOL MAY BE TAKEN IF NEEDED.
- If you are taking a blood thinner, such as Coumadin, Heparin, or Lovenox, please contact your physician for instructions about its use.
