Benefits
Health
Postdoctoral fellows receive individual health insurance benefits and may make voluntary contributions to plans to insure a spouse or family.
The Medical Center has its own fitness facility, with memberships offered at a discount to students, residents and postdoctoral fellows.
Vacation
Postdoctoral fellows are given two weeks of paid vacation per year in addition to standard holidays in accordance with University and NIH policies.
Childcare
The University of Rochester Family Care Program furnishes referrals for childcare services to all UR employees.
Kindercare Learning Center, located across the street from the Medical Center, provides care for children from 6 weeks to 6 years.
Activities for Postdoctoral Fellows
Postdoctoral fellows are encouraged to become involved in the University in a variety of ways.
- Second Friday Science Seminars highlight current UR research and recent developments in the life sciences. Lectures are followed by an informal social hour.
- Graduate Women in Science provides mentoring for the professional and personal development of all graduate women scientists at URMC and UR. Monthly meetings include guest speakers who are successful scientists in academia, industry, government agencies, and more.
Many fellows serve as volunteers in the Rochester community—teaching in public schools or working for some of Rochester's many charitable organizations.
