- Do Ph.D. students receive a stipend?
- A tuition scholarship and a competitive stipend are awarded to all accepted students. For the academic year 2007-2008, stipends are $24,000 per annum and tuition awards are $34,400.
- Are there health benefits for Ph.D. Students?
- All Ph.D. students receive Blue Cross Blue Shield coverage for themselves. A spouse or family may be covered for an additional fee.
- When is the application available?
- Our application is available year round, however, application deadlines do apply. If an application is received after the published deadline, it will be considered for the following year.
- When is the application deadline?
- The deadline for Ph.D. applications is January 1st.
- When can I enroll?
- Students matriculate in the Fall semester.
- Do I need to take the GRE exam?
- The GRE General Test is required for all applicants. Please request that your GRE scores are forwarded to the School of Medicine & Dentistry at the University of Rochester. Our institutional code is 2948. GRE scores cannot be older than five years and we will not accept an unofficial copy.
- Is the TOEFL exam required?
- International students whose native language is not English must take the TOEFL exam. Please use institutional code 2948. TOEFL scores are valid for 2 years. TOEFL is not required for graduates of a U.S. undergraduate program (minimum of two years of study in the U.S.).
- When do interviews occur?
- Interviews are held in February and March and are by invitation only.
- Is there an additional step for International applicants?
- International applicants or applicants without a valid US social security number are required to fill out a preliminary application.
