E-mail Accounts
New SMD graduate students who are not University employees are issued free e-mail accounts administered by the Edward G. Miner Library. The Offices for Graduate Education will use these student accounts to alert you about University events, important announcements, and policy changes. Your new URMC address and password will be mailed to you before Orientation. Please notify the Offices for Graduate Education immediately if you experience problems with your email account.
These e-mail accounts are accessible at all public workstations (PC or Mac) in the Miner Library, the Student Computing Lab, the Teaching & Learning Lab, the Problem-Based-Learning classrooms, all SMD faculty labs/offices on the network, and from home. Instructions are available in the Library Learning Center.
Identification Cards
The University issues a photo-identification (ID) card to all students, both part- and full-time. Students are required to have the ID card in their possession while on University premises for University business. Display of an ID card is required for all members of the University while in the Medical Center. The ID card should be visible and photo-side up. Medical Center ID Services issues ID cards to students during Orientation.
Parking
A permit is required to park your motor vehicle on the University's premises. All incoming students who wish to park on the Medical Center campus must register their vehicle with the Medical Center Parking Office in person. When applying for a parking permit, your driver's license and a copy of your vehicle registration are needed (as well as payment of all outstanding University parking violations, if any). The parking permit will be issued for the period July 1, 2008 to June 30, 2009. You may pay for the permit in full or you may purchase a month-by-month permit. Payroll deduction for parking permits is not currently available.
