Masters Admissions — Requirements
Required Academic Background
Recommended for Masters Programs in the Biomedical Sciences
- Baccalaureate degree in the natural or physical sciences. A strong background in the following disciplines is encouraged:
- Biology
- General and organic chemistry
- Physics
- Mathematics
- Degrees in other academic areas will be considered.
Recommended for Masters in Public Health
- Baccalaureate degree in the sciences, including the social sciences
- Degrees other disciplines will be considered
Recommended for Masters Program in Biostatistics
- Baccalaureate degree with background in:
- Mathematics, including calculus
- Linear and/or matrix algebra
- Probability
- Statistics
Required Tests
- Graduate Record Examination (GRE) General Test is required. Please report the verbal, quantitative, and analytical scores and percentiles.
- Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is required for all applicants whose native language is not English. TOEFL is not required for graduates of a U.S. undergraduate program (minimum of two years of study in the U.S.).

Official transcript(s) should be sent directly to the Senior Associate Dean of Graduate Education (address below) by the Registrar of each college or university you have attended.
Two letters of recommendation
Complete the upper portions of the Reference Reports before giving them to the three persons you are asking to recommend you. If the recommender requires additional space, they must use their official university or business letterhead. Supply stamped envelopes appropriately addressed to the Senior Associate Dean of Graduate Education (address below).
