Ph.D. Programs — First Year Overview
Core courses in Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Genetics and Molecular Biology, and Ethics make up the basic science foundation you need to move forward and help you sharpen your critical thinking processes.
Three laboratory experiences provide you with an in-depth look at diverse research areas, the different techniques used, and the unique approaches of each group. Your laboratory training is progressively independent in order to prepare you to function on your own as soon as possible.
Electives selected from within our interdisciplinary programs expose you to an array of fields.
Following your first year, you will be engaged in research throughout the summer.
