peopleThe 163,000-square-foot, four-story Wilmot Cancer Center is scheduled for completion in June 2008! The latest chapter in a 30-year history of serving Rochester families.

To ensure that we continue building programs of excellence and providing the highest quality patient care for years to come, we invite you to consider making a significant pledge to the Wilmot Cancer Center Comprehensive Campaign, a $42.5 million campaign to support a $65 million strategic plan. Gifts to the campaign provide a broad range of funding for patient care programs, cancer research and a much-needed, centralized state-of-the-art facility.


The New Wilmot Cancer Center

A key initiative supported by the Comprehensive Campaign is construction of a free-standing $61 million 163,000-square-foot facility at the corner of Crittenden Boulevard and East Drive. The building will allow the Wilmot Cancer Center to dramatically improve the delivery of care to more people. Patient comfort and quality of care are among the top design priorities.

Wilmot Family Atrium. The three-story atrium will be a focal point of the new Cancer Center facility. It offers a bright, welcoming environment to patients and family members.

Wilmot Cancer Center’s expertise as a world-leader in stereotactic radiosurgery, combined with cutting-edge technology, offers some patients whose tumors were considered untreatable, new hope for survival.

Davenport-Hatch Foundation Infusion Center To offer the best environment for people undergoing chemotherapy, the new Infusion Center will offer a larger, more comfortable space with greater privacy and natural light. Each chair will have individual television and internet access to help pass the time during treatments. In addition, chairs will be grouped into clusters with satellite nursing stations, placing the nurses’ work area closer to the patients.

Frank & Cricket Luellen Patient and Family Resource Center The Patient and Family Resource Center is a comprehensive source of information, education and support. A flexible, multi-use space, the Center can be divided or rearranged for support groups and educational programs.

The comprehensive campaign is fueling:

  • Growth in clinical areas that represent some of the most common and deadly cancers
  • Recuritment of 25 new, world-class specialist, brining the total number of faculty appointments close to 100
  • The goal of increasing research funding by 50 percent
  • Growing annual payroll from $35 million to a total of $70 million
  • Adding another 1,000 positions at the Wilmot Cancer Center and within local supporting businesses
  • Creating 750 short-term construction jobs, resulting in $30 million in payroll
  • Establishing a destination for specialized cancer care, drawing hundreds of people from outside the region to Rochester
  • Laying the foundation for capturing NCI designation as a top cancer center in the nation
  • Increasing current annual NCI funding by as much as 50 percent and opening doors for additional governmental and nonprofit sources of funding
  • Generating new business as each dollar spent on research increases the probability that discoveries will grow into star-up biotechnology firms
  • Boosting the local hospital industry
