Hydrogel PolymersHydrogel polymers adsorb many times their molecular weight in water. Because hydrogels are the basis of innovation in cutaneous wound care, they are a logical starting point for designing our Smart Bandgage technology. Much of our research utilizes the versatile family of polyacrylamide hydrogel polymers most commonly used in gel electrophoresis. The free amine groups present on the polymer backbone serve as site for tethering biological receptors. The pore size depends on cross linker and total solids. These are varied to control drug delivery rate.
