Drug DeliveryWe leverage the intrinsic biodegradability and large internal surface area of porous silicon to design smart transdermal drug delivery devices. Natrix strips is a drug delivery project we are collaborating on with Dr. Tausk in Dermatology which is investigating the transdermal delivery of antifungal agents locally to the nail matrix. Transdermal delivery will help minimize the toxic side effects that accompany long term systemic use of oral medications commonly used to combat onychomycosis. Our technology targets the nail stem cell compartment (nail matrix) to more effective.
