Should
the University of Rochester create a School for Dental medicine
with a predoctoral program?
What structural models will create new opportunities for Dentistry
at the University of Rochester?
Since the time that George Eastman established the Eastman Dental
Center and the School of Medicine and Dentistry, Dentistry
at the University of Rochester has developed an international reputation
for postdoctoral education, research, and patient care.
As one of the premiere institutions for academic leadership development,
there are few dental schools in the United States that do not have
at least one University of Rochester graduate
among their faculty. Many dental school deans are University
of Rochester alumni.
An effort is currently underway to explore
the feasibility of the University of Rochester School of Dental
Medicine (URSDM). Exploration of feasibility is the
first step to determine opportunities to build on Dentistry’s
rich history at the University of Rochester.
This Website is one conduit in an open process to gather
comments and ideas from all stakeholders about the URSDM
and other models for Dentistry. |

feasibility study.
Comments will be forwarded to University of Rochester leadership
and the Academic Dental Medicine Advisory

The goal is a collaborative process leading to a recommendation
to University President Joel Seligman, the CEO of the Medical Center,
and other University leaders about the feasibility of the URSDM
and ways to continue Dentistry’s national and international
leadership.
