Our newsletter is published semi-annually and covers a range of information including feature stories, product reviews, research updates, new activities and resources, and an "Ask the Expert" column.

Training CD
Each year the RRCASD develops a training CD which can be used by individuals or groups for the purposes of self-guided study and/or in-service training. Each CD is ~30 minutes in length and provides training slides, an accompanying discussion guide, and a self-quiz.

Community Resources

100 Day Kit and the Family Services Resource Guide
The Autism Speaks 100 Day Kit is created specifically for newly diagnosed families, to make the best possible use of the 100 days following the diagnosis of autism. The kit contains information and advice collected from trusted and respected experts on autism as well as from parents of children with autism. There is a week by week plan for the next 100 days, as well organizational suggestions and forms that parents/caregivers can use to help with the paperwork and phone calls, as they begin to find services for their child.

Heroes With Handicaps
Heroes With Handicaps, Inc. is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization founded for the purpose of providing financial assistance for children with Autism whose parents are currently serving or have retired from military service.

Talking to Parents About Autism Toolkit
Autism Speaks, the CDC, and the Advertising Council Launch New Program to Educate Teachers about the Importance of Early Intervention for Autism. The new Talking to Parents About Autism Toolkit focuses on helping educators speak to parents about child development issues.

Parent Educator Resource Library (PERL)
The Parent-Educator Resource Library (PERL) connects families and educators with the information they need to help students. Available through the PERL website is the Disability Resource Guide: Recreation Booklet by UNYFEAT, which lists a directory of various recreational opportunities in the Greater Rochester Area as well as many other valuable resource guides.

Maternal and Child Health Library
Knowledge Path: Autism Spectrum Disorders is an online library of resources brought to you by the Maternal and Child Health Library. You'll find a large collection of web resources, publications and articles, newsletters, and online discussion groups. If you’re interested in specific information on a wide array of emotional, behavioral, and mental health concerns, look at Knowledge Path: Children and Adolescents with Emotional, Behavioral, and Mental Health Challenges, this site contains a large collection of information and resources for professionals, families, and schools.

Family Connect
Family Connect is a resource accessible via a toll free number to connect people from the community with services and supports offered through Upstate Cerebral Palsy. Call 1-800-470-4999 to speak with a Family Connect professional Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 4:00pm.

Autism Speaks Social Networks
Autism Speaks is currently testing a social networking site and they're excited to invite you to take part in this new online autism community! You'll also be able to provide feedback on the features you want to see incorporated.
