What do people like about Rochester?It's big enough to have the cultural resources and other advantages of city living without congestion and other hassles. There are activities for individuals and families of all ages in the city and in the surrounding area. Toronto/Niagara Falls (urban), the Finger Lakes (rural, antiques, boating, wineries), and the Adirondacks (wilderness) are all within a 3-hour drive. Student Life in RochesterRochester is a city with several educational institutions--the University of Rochester with its Medical Center and Eastman School of Music, the Rochester Institute of Technology, Nazareth College, St. John Fisher College, and the nearby State University Colleges at Brockport and Geneseo. So Rochester offers a wide selection of entertainment, sports, and social events geared to this student population.

URMC FacilitiesOn-site amenities include an athletic center, a bank, a post office, a branch of University computer sales, a Barnes and Noble book store, the Hospital gift shop, three cafeterias, and coffee shops. There is a larger athletic center on the River Campus. Student OrganizationsThere is an active Graduate Student Society which sponsors social and other events.
