Research in the Department of Biomedical Genetics is focused onto two main areas:

I) The role of signaling networks and small molecule metabolites in normal cell regulation and organ development as well as in diseases with a genetic basis, such as cancer

II) Stem cell research in association with tissue repair paradigms

Within our Department we use multiple genetically tractable model organisms such as worms - C.elegans, fruit flies - D. melanogaster and mice and enjoy access to state of the art genomics analysis capabilities.

The Department is part the Aab Institute of Biomedical Sciences. and is located in the new Kornberg research building attached to the University of Rochester Medical Center.

Graduate Student Program

The Department of Biomedical Genetics administers the Ph.D. program in GENETICS. For more information see the Genetics, Genomics and Development Cluster Webpage.

Post-doctoral positions:

Post-doctoral positions with members of the Department are available. Applications should be sent to the investigator.
